Microsoft Word is
"A fully featured word processor that includes automatic
formatting, easy-to-create tables, and the ability to create and position graphics."
In these five exercises you are asked to:
 | Create a simple cover page |
 | Create a CV |
 | Create a simple Report |
 | Create a Report with a Table of Contents |
 | Create a standard letter and link it to a file of names and addresses for
multiple mailing purposes (i.e. Mail Merge). |
The second, third and fourth exercises each start with a file
which contains most of the text. Your job is to edit, add and format the text
starting from a document which looks very crude. The difference between the
starting point and the finished product should amaze you!! In the fifth exercise,
you create the files required from scratch before performing the Mail Merge.
Thus to do exercises two, three and four you will need a set of files. They are
contained in the following "self-extracting executable" files.
 | Just click on the required version of the files required. |
 | Save the "EXE" file either in the \TEMP directory on the C: drive OR on
the A: (floppy) disk. |
 | When the file has been "downloaded", start Windows NT Explorer
(it's on the "Programs" menu), find the \TEMP directory (or the A: drive) and
double click on the EXE file. You will be asked where you want to put the extracted
files. These should again go onto either the \TEMP directory or the floppy disk (the
A: drive). |
 | Once you've extracted the files you can delete the EXE file (this can be done in Windows
NT explorer.) |
Note that these EXE files also contain the files you need for the Excel exercises.
Here's some more quizzes on Microsoft Word. You might want to do them once you done
the exercises.
You are expected to get a score of at least 80% on these quizzes. You can repeat the
quizzes any number of times, only your BEST score is shown.
