Much of the criticism of Penrose has focused on Godel's theorem. Instead, here the focus is on mathemtics. Penrose fails to make the important distinction between an algorithm and a heuristic, a point made by several AI researchers. He also fails to distinguish between different types of mistakes that can be made in mathematics. Finally, his book "Shadows of the Mind" is full of examples of non rigorous reasoning.
