Cardiff hosted the Congress of the European Heads of Parliament in 1998 and hosted the Rugby World Cup in 1999 (within the impressive new Millenium Stadium). Cardiff is the site of the National Assembly for Wales. The bay area of Cardiff has recently been completely re-developed and is the site of what proved one of the largest civil engineering projects in Western Europe - the the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

Travel Times to Cardiff:
A conference package including low-cost (DBB) accommodation in the Cardiff Moathouse hotel within walking distance of the campus has been arranged. Early booking is recommended to gain the preferential accommodation rate.
The 5th international conference of the UKAIS is being organised by the Wales and West Regional Group of the UKAIS and will be held at the Cyncoed Campus of the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC).
The Cyncoed campus is within convenient distance from the centre of Cardiff with access to all the facilities of the city centre.
To Cyncoed Campus: Take the junction off the A48 (M) signposted to Cardiff Docks/Llanederyn. Turn off roundabout toward Llanederyn and at the mini-roundabout take the first exit (onto Llanederyn Road). At the end of Llanederyn Road take a right at the lights onto Cyncoed Road. You will find Cyncoed Campus situated approximately ½ mile along Cyncoed Road on the right hand side.
To the Moat House Hotel: Take the junction off the A48 (M) signposted to Cardiff Docks/Llanederyn. Turn off roundabout toward Llanederyn and at the mini-roundabout take the third exit signposted to the hotel.
To the Campanile Hotel: Take the junction off the A48 (M) signposted to Pentwyn (this is one junction before Llanederyn junction when travelling from the M4). Two hotels are signposted from the roundabout, the Campanile Hotel is the second hotel you will come to.
